Hey, I Can Has superstars! We love reading heartwarming cat adoption stories, we just can't get enough of them. There are so many kitties out there that need our help and we appreciate every hooman who comes to take one and give them a furrever home. This purrticular story involves a cute couple who adopted a cat and were assured that she was "fixed". They took her home and she started gaining some weight….a little too much weight!

As you will see below, her belly is bursting with love, and probably some cute kittens. Well, you know what they say, if the universe really wants you to have five cats instead of one, five it is.     That cat is pregnant. Very pregnant from what we can tell. She must have gotten pregnant right before they adopted her. At that point, it's just fate. The universe wants this couple to have five cats instead of one!

    I feel silly even typing this, but here is some context: My spouse and I became fosters to this adorable, abandoned cat that was hanging around my parent's backyard in freezing weather (Feb 29). We fostered her through an official program who took care of all her medical needs. They told us she was not chipped, but confirmed she was already spayed. We both knew nothing about cats, but we ended up falling in love with her and we officially adopted her a few weeks ago.

    Well, they should call those vets back and be like, "Maybe you should go back to school because she is clearly not 'definitely fixed'." But honestly, once you've fallen in love with a cat, you will take her no matter what state she's in!

    She always had big (we were told she may have had a litter before) so it was not a red flag. That is, until now. She has put on some healthy weight (she was emaciated when we first found her), but a lot of it seems to be in her belly area. I know it sounds ridiculous but we can't help but think she is pregnant.

    I have an appointment with the vet in 3 days (the earliest they could get me in), but I'm a little anxious thinking about the possibility she may seriously be expecting. I am wondering if this has ever happened before (an allegedly spayed cat being pregnant). I am also wondering if there could be any other reason my cat looks like this?

    sarcasmismygame 1 day ago I'd bet anything she's preggers. And yes, I have heard of this before. Either she wasn't fully spayed, it happens, or the rescue and/or vet thought she was and surprise, she wasn't. Update us but if she is pregnant. And after the kittens are born then I'd get her fixed, but in the meantime google Kitten Lady on Youtube. And thank you for taking this sweet girl in and adopting her, if she has kittens you will know even more joy than you thought possible!

    Prepare a room that doesnt have much furniture or places that you won't be able to reach to switch out dirty towels / pee pads and check on health of kittens. My cat snuck in my storage room to have her kittens and now theyre in a very difficult spot to reach, see, clean, etc... my biggest issue so far. Good luck!

    Laney20 1 day ago Timing lines up... Cat pregnancy is about 2 months. You'll probably start to see/feel kitten movement soon. Work on setting up a safe area for her to give birth and care for the kittens in, preferably a quiet, warm room in your home. Switch to non-clumping litter if you use clumping. Get her on kitten food - as much as she wants! Consider closing her in her safe room soon.. Kitten lady is the best resource for kitten things!

    Like the majority of you all thought... she is pregnant and expected to give birth this week. I took her to the vet this morning and we were able to confirm with an X-ray that she has 4-5 kittens in there. We have prepared for this to happen as early as today. To clarify a few things...

    She is an indoor cat and seems to have conceived in the days leading up to us taking her in. The cat rescue organization was told by the vet that she was spayed before we found her and we both had no reason to question it. I let them know and I don't blame them at all. They are helping me with this process and I respect all the work they are doing for rescued cats. I am just grateful we were able to take her in and give her a comfortable home.
